The ramblings of a developer

eBooks on the iPad

eBooks are the one thing that really interests me about the iPad. However, I cant seem to find any more details and are almost just a footnote to the video and gaming on the website. My guess is the Internet mumblings are correct and tentative agreements are in place to offer eBook content but the scope, titles, and cost are TBD.

It does, however, look as though eBooks will sell for a premium with Ted Kennedys autobiography listed in the photos as $14.99. Yet, I would pay it. Yes I am part sucker but I am dying for a simple interface to manage, search, and (hopefully) annotate electronic books. (plus they are presumably in full color to boot!)

Finally, my last few questions:

  1. If iBooks are built on the epub format will I be able to view amazon or barnes and noble eBooks on the device?

  2. How about PDFs? Can I import PDFs into the slick iBook.app?

  3. How do I get content into the iBook.app? I presume syncing with iTunes?
